I have over eight years of experience working and volunteering with people from diverse backgrounds in various settings with mental health and behavioural challenges. My educational and professional experiences inform my knowledge and approach to working with people from all walks of life. I have a deep compassion for individuals who have experienced the impact of marginalization and stigma. I approach all clients with a focus on strengths and values to facilitate change and meet goals. If you choose to work with me, I would be honoured to hold space for you and journey alongside you through the work of therapy.
My style as a therapist is to be attentive, curious, attuned, and empathetic. I have used cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, narrative therapy, emotionally focused therapy, reality therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and solution-focused informed approaches. Through my lived experience and my professional practice, I have learned that change is possible when self-awareness grows. Therapy can facilitate a part of this growth. One way to create an environment where change is empowered is within a therapeutic relationship where assumptions are suspended, understanding is sought, and presence is fostered.
My approach to psychotherapy is founded on the belief that all people carry inherent worth and value. I take a holistic view of clients, people are multidimensional and every aspect, biological, psychological, social, and spiritual, play a role in subjective well-being. I tend to rely upon the perspective that clients are the experts of their lives, which is invaluable in tailoring my approach specific to you as a client. I believe strongly that no one has a monopoly on normality. I have a deep fascination for the impact that societal, religious, cultural, and family origin has on our development and the maintenance of problematic emotional, psychological, and social experiences. The nuanced approach I take for every client is rooted in my belief that every person is unique. Therefore, every client will receive an approach tailored to specifically to them.

I have been described by others as attentive, empathetic, understanding and deliberate (a nice way to say quiet). My Caribbean roots have made it impossible for me to sit still when music is playing. Stories of people pushing themselves to their physical limits are definitely a fascination of mine, likely from my appreciation for physical health and respect for the power of the mind. I read a lot, play music a little too loud, and talk to family/friends daily.
Foremost among my practice is an appreciation for the time that we spend together and the privilege I feel when clients share the details of their lives with me. Words fail to capture the significance I place in this opportunity. What I bring to your clinical treatment honours the trust you place in me as your counsellor.
Throughout the lessons gained from my education, my employment at Carizon Family and Community Services, and life lessons picked up along the way, I have been humbled by the consistent reminders of humanity’s resilience and capability to thrive through unbelievable life experiences. I rely on these as guiding principles in my practice and my personal life.
Much of my practice will be tailored to you as the unique individual you are. I tend to focus on your emotional experience through approaches such as emotion-focused therapy (EFT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness to enhance your clinical treatment. I am a firm believer in lifelong learning and I am currently focused on becoming certified in dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).

Hard doesn’t have to mean bad, and it never means hopeless. In the middle of everything we face we can discover meaning in our lives and find a reason and the strength to push through difficult times. I know the way hardship and suffering shapes our lives; life is hard and there is no secret weapon and no magic bullet. Life cannot be lived in isolation, and our struggles can’t be resolved without human interaction. My purpose is to walk with you through the hard work of determining your own purpose and face your struggles. I would be honored to support you as you further identify your own purpose and meaning.
I earned my BA in philosophy at the University of Waterloo and my Master’s degree through Martin Luther University College at Wilfrid Laurier University. I have worked with people struggling with food insecurity and homelessness, relationship breakdowns, addictions, traumatic experiences, and many folks working to pick up the pieces of their lives and to move forward into a healthier way of living.
I believe that human beings are always spiritual, but I don’t think that spirituality and religion are the same thing. Our spirituality is sometimes expressed in religion, but also in art and music, in love and language, in reason and imagination. I work from an existential perspective, which means that I am focused on the search for meaning and purpose we are each engaged in, and I think that many of our psychological struggles are a reflection of that larger search. I blend influences from several psychotherapeutic approaches including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Logotherapy, Person-Centered and Psychodynamic therapy.

Let’s create a space where you can express yourself authentically and talk about some of the things going on in your life. Through our therapeutic work we can untangle the knotted string of thoughts, emotions, and sensations that may be creating discomfort and stress. There are so many factors that impact mental health and that is why I strive to provide comprehensive support for all the different aspects of you. Through the strengths you already possess and a therapeutic approach that is personally tailored to you, we can work towards managing the difficulties inherent in life and empower you to reach your full potential.
My work is based in client-centred and trauma-informed perspectives, which means that I consider you as the expert on your own life and also know how far-reaching the impacts of traumatic experiences can be. I use an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from many evidence-based therapies, such as acceptance and commitment therapy, based on your needs and preferences. In our sessions you can expect discussion and reflection, the development of coping skills and strategies, and a therapeutic relationship based on respect and compassion.
Holding space for your experiences and intersectional identities are essential aspects of therapy for me. I know that it is hard to look up a therapist, schedule a time, and engage in therapy. Good on you for getting this far. I would appreciate the chance to meet you where you’re at and begin walking with you on this path toward deeper knowledge.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and I have completed all aspects of the MA in Counselling Psychology degree from the University of Western Ontario. I also have an Honours BA in Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University and have worked with organizations around KW. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, stress, relationship issues, substance use, and grief.

Welcome here! Whatever brought you to this space, I want you to know you are welcome and supported. I view the therapeutic journey, as a client welcoming me to walk alongside them as they walk on the pathway of their life, and I don’t take this invitation lightly. I can understand it can be vulnerable to reach out for support and I honor your bravery in taking the first step. I hold a strong belief in the expertise of clients when it comes to their own lives, and as a therapist, my role is to support and guide you in processing and uncovering the best steps forward in your personal journey. From my own experience within therapy, I know that the therapeutic relationship is a vital tool for change, and I work empathetically to build that trust between client and therapist.
In my approach, I always take into account the whole person, focusing on your biological, social and psychological self and I am a big believer that wellbeing is directly linked to physical, mental, social and spiritual health. I apply a client centered, trauma informed lens to my work and pull from different modalities including narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, somatic processing and mindfulness. Imagine living as your true, authentic self—free from anxiety, fully seen and heard in your relationships, and confident to embrace your creative, outside-the-box identity.
I see you and how tough things are out there, perhaps now more than ever. Navigating this world can feel deeply challenging when you don’t feel fully seen, heard, or welcome. Taking the first step towards fulfillment is powerful. And you don’t have to take these steps alone.
In my work with LGBTQ2IA+ and polyamorous folks, I have seen how challenging it can be to live outside the norm. I know this struggle intimately and how it often intersects with deeply personal journeys of identity, relationships, and belonging.
For couples and relationships, therapy can help foster new, healthier ways of relating. Emotionally-focused therapy can help you break free of recurring patterns that keep you stuck. It can be so hard to maintain healthy, secure relationships when you feel you have no script to follow or that the relationship models you grew up knowing aren’t working or desirable today.
For individuals, therapy also supports a new, examined way of living in uncertain times. I often work with folks struggling with identity (gender and sexuality issues), spirituality/existential concerns, grief and loss, ADHD, depression, anxiety, and in their relationships. You’re right to feel that it shouldn’t be so hard to live a better life.
Imagine feeling free to express your true self without fear or judgment, building healthier relationships, and living a more fulfilling life. Therapy can support you in navigating life’s competing challenges and help you heal from old wounds—the unhelpful ways you’ve learned to cope. Together, we can create new possibilities for growth. We can create an environment that embraces your unique experiences with safety, non-judgement and compassion. Let’s take this step together and bring your dreams to life.
